A strange coincidence...

I already posted about Jed's ear trouble, but that's just the beginning. A couple of weeks ago, Brynlie's eardrum burst. So we have had her on antibiotics and have had to put ear drops in her ears 4 times a day for 7 days, and then keep her on her side for 5 minutes so the drops will stay in her ears. Not an easy task, but she's getting a little more used to it and will lay down when she sees me coming with the drops. Then a couple of days ago Kaytlynn started complaining about her ears hurting too, and I have to admit I brushed it off because I didn't want to hear about one more child with ear problems, but then she kept complaining so I took her to the dr. We were told that she has swimmer's ear, and an inner ear infection and has to have drops in her ears too. And to top it all off, my ear is acting a little funny lately too. A little strange coincidence going on at our house!

Daddy's little girl

Jason will even admit that our kids haven't really picked him as a favorite...until Brynlie. She LOVES her daddy! She prefers his attention to mine anytime. He comes home from work, and she doesn't even remember who I am, she just wants her Daddy. It might hurt my feelings if I didn't think it was so cute!

She looks a lot like mom, but we know one thing she got from her dad, the tease gene. She loves to tease! She loves to pretend to give you a kiss, and then as soon as you go for it, she will turn away - and then giggle.

Every day I am thankful we were lucky enough to get Brynlie. She adds so much to our lives and to our family, I can't imagine how we would get along without her!

Hmmmm...

Jed disappeared at the 4th of July festivities, for about a half an hour, we had no idea where he was. We had everyone looking for him, and he was no where to be found. After a while we got a phone call from Jason's dad saying that he had walked to their house. Of course we were so relieved, and then we got thinking about what if he had made a wrong turn somewhere and got lost and we didn't know where to look for him? What if someone could see that he was lost and decided that would be a good opportunity to kidnap him. Just tell him you know where he lives and will take him to his house, and he would have gotten in someone's car.

We had a little talk with him about "stranger danger," and might have scared him a little bit. He told me that there were no bad guys on the earth, and I tried to tell him that "yes, there are" without making him scared of everyone he meets. A little while later I saw him outside kneeling on the lawn. I thought he was outside playing with some toys or something. He came back inside and said, "Mom, I talked to Jesus and asked him to make a new earth with no bad guys."

Hmmm...

Kaytlynn

Kaytlynn is my right-hand girl. I don't know what I would do without her. She is such a big help to me, and 90% of the time does what she can to help me out.

She is an awesome swimmer. She was put in a level 4 swimming class this year, and after the first day, her teacher put her in a level 5 class and she passed with flying colors.

She is also becoming a basketball player. She played basketball last fall and then with another team again in the winter. She really took to the game and has decided that it is her "thing." She is the tallest girl her age, which sometimes she likes and sometimes she's not so sure if she likes it. But once she gets a little more practice with basketball, that height is going to come in handy!

She has played softball and really likes that too. She has some natural talent with that, but her team hasn't really had a consistent coach, so she hasn't had the best instruction with it. We're looking for a softball camp or something to help with that though.

Right now she is just enjoying the summer and staying busy and trying not to think about 4th grade starting in 6 weeks! (That's hard for mom to think about too!)

Jed's poor ears

Jed is having troubles with his ears. He failed is hearing test at his Kindergarten checkup, so I took him in to see the ENT. They did some tests and found that he has a lot of fluid in his ears and has caused a 30% hearing loss in both ears. No wonder he always has to have everything repeated 3 times! The dr wants to put tubes in his ears. I did a lot of research on the internet and I don't think I want tubes put in his ears. I had read some things about chiropractor treatments for fluid in the ears and have been taking him to see one. I am hoping this will do the trick. I will take him in to get his hearing tested again when the treatments are done to see if there has been any improvement, and if not, we'll do the tubes. He starts kindergarten soon and will need to be able to hear everything!

Brynlie loves to go diaperless...

I can't seem to keep a diaper on my baby. It is a constant battle to keep one on her. The other day I walked into her bedroom while she was sleeping, and the first thing I noticed was her bare bum sticking in the air! She had taken off her pants and threw them out of them crib, then did the same with her diaper. She pulls her pants off every chance she gets and then there goes her diaper! I can't wait until she grows out of this phase!
